#OMG! You have definitely got to try the Brewhouse Burger it is amazing. Remember the type of beef burger your mum used to make when you were younger? Well this is just like that. I went all out and added the smoked applewood cheddar for an extra £2.00, if you're going to get this burger you have to add the smoked cheese. #tasty Definitely be back for more of this soon!
We were given a voucher for the Old Brewhouse, and although we had been previously we still spent ages salivating over the menu on the web. We recently had to visit Arbroath and decided to have lunch as well. Our selection of Viking Platter was not on the lunch menu and we mentioned this to the waitress who immediately enquired if it could be served, and to our delight were told it could be. We were advised that this was a large meal so I was offered a half portion of Cullen Skink to start. The Platter was enormous, with a super variety of hot and cold fish served with salad and plenty of fresh bread and butter . (No chips to bag you up) The Smokie fell off the bone and the haddock was so fresh it melted in the mouth, add to this hot smoked salmon, prawns, scampi, calamari and mussels and we were fed for the day, literally. We have eaten seafood all over the north east, but this was definitely one of the best. Thanks to everyone for one of those meals to remember.

Abbey Street, Arbroath, Angus DD11 1EG – 01241 878756
A good example of twelfth-century abbey ruins, distinct in its unique red coloring (representative of the color of the local sandstone, which is particularly dark compared to other sandstone structures around Scotland). Despite the state of the overall abbey, the abbot's house is in remarkable shape, including a few spots of original 16th century paint. This is also the place where the famous Declaration of Arbroath was (it is believed) written in 1320. The document, written to the Pope John XXII, established a philosophical foundation for Scottish sovereignty (although the exact objectives of the letter are matters of debate). In recognition, the abbey has a useful exhibit on the history of the document, including a replica of a copy from the National Archives of Scotland. While I'm happy to have visited Arbroath, my primary interest was in seeing the (excellent) St. Vigeans Sculpted Stones museum (which I highly recommend); given their proximity, they make a convenient pairing.
Interesting site. Very informative electronic guide. The kids could do their own quest and collect gifts at the end. Excellent views for photographers.
